Introducing: HURTS

As the weekends usually tend to be quite slow in the pop music world, I'm taking this time to introduce a duo I've been meaning to post about. English electronic duo from Manchester, HURTS which include Theo Hutchcraft (lead vocalist) & Adam Anderson (electronics & guitar). They started developing some buzz late last year and I've remained interested since. In May the duo released their first single in the UK "Better Than Love" and managed a Top 50 peak. Now onto my current obsession their second single "Wonderful Life" which will be officially released in the UK on August 16th!! You can watch the even more amazing music video below as well. Their debut album titled "Happiness" will be released on September 6th! Be sure to check them out, Enjoy!!

Mike Posner - Bow Chicka Wow Wow

Singer-songwriter-producer Mike Posner is getting ready to release his debut album "31 Minutes to Takeoff" on August 10th! His first single "Cooler Than Me" is currently #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has already been certified platinum. Posner has announced that fans will be able to listen to his debut album over a week in advance of release on MySpace Music & SIRIUS XM this Sunday! Here we have one of the album tracks titled "Bow Chicka Wow Wow" produced by The Smeezingtons, which you can check out below. Last night thanks to some great blogger friends MuuMuse & Sheena Beaston I was able to attend a private showcase by Robyn for iHeartRadio. Which was taped at the P.C. Richard & Son Theater in Tribeca (NYC). She performed a consistently effortless set of seven songs for the crowd of lucky fans. I enjoyed every second of it and am now even more excited for when I attend the All Hearts Tour with both Robyn & Kelis hits NYC next week!

Ne-Yo - Hurt Me

Ne-Yo is getting ready to release his fourth studio album "Libra Scale" on September 21st!! Current singles "Beautiful Monster" and "Champagne Life" both seem to be impacting well and climbing the billboard charts every week. Lead single "Beautiful Monster" is just about to crack the Top 50 while "Champagne Life" is doing it's thing on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart (#18). Here we have a brand new track set to be on the album titled "Hurt Me" produced by Stargate. I do not even know where to begin but yes, today ALi's Blog is officially 4 years-old! THAT'S CRAZY! I was just a teen when I started blogging and I didn't think anything would ever come of it. Fast forward to now and I couldn't be more grateful for all that has happened. When I think of the artists I've interviewed, the people I've met, and the events I've attended because of the site... It all becomes very overwhelming and for that I am forever thankful.

Pop singer-songwriter Katy Perry is getting ready to release her new album titled "Teenage Dream" on August 24th!! Just yesterday she reveled the official album cover by Will Cotton and mentioned that the physical edition will smell like cotton candy. First single "California Gurls" quickly became a #1 and now Perry is ready to move on. Today her official second single and title track of the album "Teenage Dream" premiered. It's a cute light catchy pop track that is a different pace from the summer smash "California Gurls" but still a pretty solid pop track. Taylor Swift - Announces New Album!

Taylor Swift shared some exciting news today with her fans on Ustream just moments ago. She will be releasing her third studio album, "Speak Now" the follow-up to 08's "Fearless" on October 25th! While the album's first single, "Mine," will be released around mid-August. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter co-produced "Speak Now" with longtime collaborator Nathan Chapman, who worked with her on "Fearless" and her 2006 self-titled debut. Singer-songwriter Kelis may have debuted to disappointing numbers with her latest effort "Flesh Tone" but that's not stopping her. She stopped by to give a very intimate acoustic performance of three tracks from the new album. The songs "22nd Century," "4th of July" and "Brave" are almost completely stripped-down while Kelis delivers three vocally engaging performances. Michelle Branch - Everything Comes and Goes [EP]

Singer-songwriter Michelle Branch hasn't had the best of luck trying to release her third studio album. Her record label Warner Bros prevented the release due to not being completely satisfied with the material. Instead Branch has decided to release a six-track EP titled "Everything Comes and Goes" and a new album will later follow titled "A Different Kind of Country." The new album will include a batch of new songs mixed in with what was set to be previously released. Here you can check out the new EP which has yet to receive an official release date. Kelis - Flesh Tone (Album Review)

In celebration of finally updating my favorite albums of 2009 (on the sidebar). I would like to properly review what is hands down one of my favorite albums of this year. I won't deny that when first hearing single "Acapella" I wasn't completely sold on her transition into dance. The amazing visuals in the video is what won me over and now have me pretty much obsessed. She's always had an impressive vision of R&B and it's still clear in this effort. The nine-track album is a full on dance party from beginning to end with transitions at the end of each track which perfectly fade into the next. Tracks like "4th of July (Fireworks)" and "Emancipate" are instant favorites with their feel good classic throb of disco liberation. The highlights, however don't come until the very end of the record. The Benny Benassi produced "Brave" and the Free School produced "Song for the Baby" have Kelis exploring her most personal moments. Which are clearly her recent divorce from rapper Nas and the birth of her first child. This isn't your typical (mainstream) dance album. It's a modern/adult effort filled with moody electro & hard hitting trance grooves with some heart thrown in aswell. Not all will love it but I do think everyone should give it a shot. Pull out that reclining beach chair & head to the nearest beach/pool & just listen. You won't regret it! TEAM KELIS!

Ciara is getting ready to release her fourth studio album "Basic Instinct" due out August 17th which she confirmed herself. Single "Ride" has been slowly rising up the Billboard Hot 100 currently #50 while #5 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Here we have a new track titled "Gimme That" produced by Tricky Stewart & Soundz. Girlicious - Drank

Girlicious are getting ready to release their sophomore album "Rebuilt" on August 24th (Canada)!! Current single "Maniac" has only peaked to #74 on the Canadian Hot 100 and since has fallen off the chart. Here we have a new track titled "Drank" that will be included on the soundtrack to MTV’s hit show Jersey Shore. A song as they described that started out as a "joke" is now the theme for cast member Snooki. The song is quite ridiculous but it makes sense for the show. Kelis - Carefree American + Today Show (Performance)

Kelis has just released her fifth studio album "Flesh Tone" today! The album continues to climb on the iTunes album chart currently #13. Over the weekend US bonus track "Carefree American" made it's way onto the internet. The mid-tempo Jean Baptise produced track is her take on American culture today. First off I hope everyone had a safe and very enjoyable 4th of July weekend! M.I.A is just a week away from releasing her third studio album "Maya" on July 13th!! Single "XXXO" hasn't really made any impact in the mainstream world but maybe once the video is released it may help. Last week she released album track "Teqkilla" and now a remix version has been made available.
